Read Out Loud | READ THE BOOK, LEMMINGS!

My first reaction to Read the Book, Lemmings! was HUH!. This isn’t a children’s book, it’s an allegory.  The lemmings, cute as they seem, have an annoying habit that we see too often today – they don’t listen.  What’s more, they don’t see the danger of what is right under their noses.  Despite warnings, they choose to do what they have always done - with the same results.  Time and time again, they are bailed out of their predicament, only to ignore, once again, the potential disasters right under their furry little noses.

Then I read six pages of reviews.  Again – HUH!  No one else saw it the way I did.  It’s a children’s book, they all said.  A very good one.  Great way to introduce dialogue, and the use of commas, teachers said.

Finally, I bumped into the YouTube video of the author and illustrator reading the book.  It is bizarre. It is freaky.  Funny – oh you be the judge.

Thanks for stopping by.
